COVID-19 Safety Policy

  1. Cambridge Camping Association Inc (known as the “Organization”) will maintain COVID-19 these safety policies for employees, participants, partners and visitors (collectively known as “Individuals”) for buildings, offices, vehicles, sports facilities, partner sites, travel destinations, and any other locations (collectively known as a “Location”) where transmission is a risk due to close proximity based on recommendations provided by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD), and any other public health department in a Location where the Organization operates. The Executive Director(s), Camp Director(s), Program Director(s), Health Care Consultants, Health Care Supervisors, or other administrators next in charge (collectively known as “Administrators”) at any Location are responsible for ensuring adherence to these polices at all times.
     
  2. The Organization will meet the minimum recommended safety practices provided by these institutions.  The Organization, at its discretion, may choose to require higher standards of safety practices.  The Organization will take the following measures to protect employees, participants, partners and visitors at any Location:
     

    1. The Organization may retain one or more Health Care Consultants to ensure that employees at Locations receive training in health-related matters and COVID-19 protocols and practices.  The Health Care Consultant(s) will provide training to Individuals engaged in health testing or screening.
       
    2. The Organization may appoint one or more Health Care Supervisors for any Location who are Massachusetts licensed physicians, physician assistants, certified nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, or other persons specially trained in CPR or First Aid.  Health Care Supervisors will be responsible for monitoring, testing, first responder care, isolation, and dismissal of Individuals.
       
    3. Administrators, Health Care Consultants, and Health Care Supervisors will assess the current COVID-19 conditions, risk of COVID-19 transmission, and the vulnerability of Individuals in population at any Location and produce a Location-specific COVID-19 safety plan that MAY require Individuals to take any or all of the following safety precautions:
       

      1. Consider staying up to date with vaccinations and boosters per authorizations by the CDC as the best way to reduce risk of COVID-19 illness and transmission.
         
      2. Wear face masks. Masks should be provided by the Individual but mask supplies maintained at any Location will be of a sufficient supply to meet the needs of changing conditions. Masks should be routinely washed or replaced.  Masks and gloves must be worn during food handling and any health screening activities that require contact.
         
      3. Complete a required COVID-19 safety training.
         
      4. Perform daily health screenings.
         
      5. Maintain confidential documentation of Individual COVID-19 statuses for the purpose of managing risk of transmission.
         
      6. Maintain separate cohorts or “pods” of Individuals.
         
      7. Distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to Individuals.
         
      8. Perform COVID-19 rapid tests on Location or at home.
         
      9. Perform COVID-19 pool testing.
         
      10. Limit the capacity of a program, meal time, or any other activity.
         
      11. Limit access of non-participants.
         
      12. Engage in increased sanitizing and hygiene practices.
         
      13. Improve air circulation and/or filtration.
         
      14. Adopt or adjust to new safety precautions as needed by evolving conditions.
         
    4. See specific additional COVID-19 safety policies for the following locations.
       
    5. In the event that an Individual is assessed as a risk of transmission of COVID-19 at any Location, Administrators may isolate or dismiss Individuals from activities and contact an Individual’s family, caregiver, or emergency contacts as deemed necessary for the Individual’s safety and safe operations at the Location.  Administrators then will take the following actions as needed as directed by the CDC’s Isolation and Quarantine Guidance for Children in Care, K-12, OST, and Recreational Camp Settings (May 2022):
       

      1. Require Individuals exposed to COVID-19 to wear a mask at all times for ten days if it is safe for the individual to do so, maintain social distancing, and test frequently to monitor for COVID-19 positive infection.
         
      2. Require Individuals experiencing common symptoms of COVID-19 at home to obtain a negative rapid test result prior to arrival at a Location or to remain at home.
         
      3. Require Individuals experiencing common symptoms of COVID-19 after arriving at a Location to obtain a negative rapid test in order to remain at the Location.
         
      4. Require Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 to quarantine for 5 days from the date of first positive test and remain free of fever for 24 hours.  Administrators will communicate directly with employees and participant’s families to coordinate the absence from programs
         
      5. Require Individuals returning to Locations after 5 days of quarantine and remain free of fever for 24 hours to wear a mask until day 10 or provide proof of a negative test result.
         
  3. The Organization will employ sufficient staff to adequately supervise Individuals who are exposed, tested positive, and/or exhibiting symptoms in addition to adequately and safely supervising regular operations at any Location.
     
  4. The Organization’s COVID-19 safety policies may be superseded by the requirements of local, state, or federal authorities or the building management of any Location at any time.
     
  5. These policies may be updated at any time due to changes in guidelines from the above institutions.  Changes will be communicated in this document.
