Ready For An Awesome Summer? Now Hiring Camp Staff & Specialists

Our summer staff is made up of amazing, thoughtful people that are ready to give back to their community (all while having a great time). Cambridge Camping is excited to announce that we are beginning the process of hiring for camp 2017. These positions are full time from the last week of June through August 4, the last day of camp.  People who work at camp become mentors to great kids, make friends with other staffers, and gain great experience. A lot of our staff return year after year. 

If you're looking for a summer job that allows you to spend time outdoors, and do fun activities (like beach trips) with some amazing kids and colleagues, this could be the job for you!  We're looking for people with a passion for fun and enough energy to keep up with 6-11 year old kids for 5 weeks!  Individuals with a commitment to kindness and with camp and/or recreation experience are encouraged to apply.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

In addition the the positions outlined below, we are also always looking for Counselors-in-Training (CIT) that we hire through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program for Cambridge teenagers age 14-17. 

Programming Director

The Summer Camp Programming Director at Cambridge Adventure Day Camp is a full time, 7 week position and will be responsible for developing and implementing a variety of age appropriate activities for no more than 16 campers at a time ages 6-11. The goal is to provide campers with opportunities to build critical thinking skills, have fun, and develop self-confidence. In addition, the Summer Camp Programming Director will be expected to implement our STEAM (Science/Tech/Engineering/Art/Math) curriculum which has been developed by the Museum of Science. The position responsibilities also extend to assisting the camp director with developing and implementing all-camp programming and assisting with supervision on field trips. Qualified candidates will be passionate about working with children, have an interest in STEAM programming, and have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing programming for elementary-aged children. Group Leaders

Group Leaders work with a co-leader to supervise and nurture a group of approximately 15 campers (6 years old, 7 years old, or 8 years old). Group Leaders are expected to fully participate in all aspects of camp, including programming activities and field trips, and to work effectively and respectfully with colleagues. Group leaders are also expected to plan and implement programming activities for campers during group times. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and in possession of a high school diploma. Additional qualifications include a history of reliability and experience working with children. Activity Leaders

Activity Leaders work with a co-leader to supervise and nurture a group of approximately 15 campers (9 years old, 10 years old, or 11 years old). Activity Leaders are expected to fully participate in all aspects of camp, including programming activities and field trips, and to work effectively and respectfully with colleagues. Additionally, Activity Leaders are responsible for the co-creation and implementation of programming electives that support campers' academic and social growth. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and in possession of a high school diploma. Additional qualifications include demonstrated creativity and innovation, a history of reliability, and experience working with children. Camp runs July 3 to August 4 with staff training the last week of June.  Please send cover letter and resume to s.whitford@cambridgecamping.org.

Movement Specialist

The Movement Specialist at Cambridge Adventure Day Camp is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of age-appropriate activities that focus on movement, wellness, and physical education. The goal is to provide all campers with opportunities to engage in physical activity regardless of their fitness levels or athletic prowess. The Movement Specialist will work as a member of the administrative team to plan and coordinate activities and to ensure programmatic continuity throughout the summer. The Movement Specialist is also responsible for participating in daily camp routines and coordinating field day. Qualified applicants will have a passion for children, experience working with children in groups, and will have demonstrated expertise in the field of movement and/or physical education. Special Needs Camp Counselor

For our camp seeks a counselor with a background in education and experience working with children with social, emotional and behavioral health needs.  Since 1990, Daybreak has provided a dynamic, nurturing program to 5-12 year-old campers.  Camp runs July 3 to August 4 with staff training the last week of June.   Please send cover letter and resume to info@cambridgecamping.org.

Studio Arts Specialist

The Studio Art Specialist collaborates with other specialists and administrators to develop an engaging program for campers. The responsibilities of the Studio Arts Specialist include creating a curriculum aligned with a camp theme; activities must be developmentally appropriate, innovative, inspiring, and meant to increase children's overall artistic sensibilities. A background in Art Education is helpful, but not required. Candidates must be a college graduate or working towards a degree in studio arts and or education. They must demonstrate creativity and be prepared to share their own art as an assessment tool. Additionally, they must have a history of reliability and experience working with children.
