Daybreak Day Camp is a six-week program providing meaningful camp experiences to youngsters from under-resourced circumstances who demonstrate social, emotional, and behavioral challenges related to trauma or special needs.  Campers’ diagnoses may include ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, and other learning issues. With a 2:1 camper to staff ratio and an environment designed to be trauma-sensitive and responsive to camper needs, Daybreak Day Camp allows children who need a smaller program and extra support to fully experience the benefits of a summer day camp experience.

A Daybreak summer offers friendships, new learning opportunities, and strong mentoring relationships in a supportive, diverse community.  Our program provides a setting where children can find connection and success.  Counselors are trained to understand the impact of camper challenges, to teach play skills and problem solving, and to provide therapeutic support as needed.  Many campers and staff return year after year, creating a strong community that promotes growth and a sense of belonging for our campers, families, and staff.

Sample activities:

  • Visiting performers
  • Crafts
  • Biking, swimming, and other athletics
  • Parkour
  • Multicultural events
  • Percussion instruction
  • Structured choice times

All camp tuitions are subsidized thanks to the generosity of many individuals and foundations and determined on a sliding fee scale that offers up to 90% discounts on the cost of camp. Rates are based on household size and family income. Families MUST submit 2021 or 2022 Federal Income Tax form 1040 for EACH WAGE EARNER in the household.
